Lipstick on a pig?

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Obama: 'Lipstick on a pig'

Amie Parnes reports from Lebanon, VA:

Obama poked fun of McCain and Palin's new "change" mantra.

"You can put lipstick on a pig," he said as the crowd cheered. "It's still a pig."

"You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change. It's still gonna stink."

"We've had enough of the same old thing."

The crowd apparently took the "lipstick" line as a reference to Palin, who described the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull in a single word: "lipstick."</div></div>

Re: Lipstick on a pig?

Oh come on--after the clear "community organizer" jab at the RNC, the gloves are off. It's coming down the home stretch from here to November--barbs like this are going to be slung both ways. Get used to it.

Once again though, even though this made me laugh--it's still fodder that's full of silliness that detracts from the real issues. Focusing on this and not on what each candidates' plans are is a waste of time.

When I heard that, I LMAO. Mccains campaign is one big personal attack/joke, funny how when Obama takes a shot back we hear bitching. No surprise though.

Love the reaction on that link's comments section near the bottom, someone responded:

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Is he calling all hockey moms (and by extension soccer moms) pigs?</div></div>

Quite a leap from point A to point XYZ. Yeah man/lady, that was his intent. Obama hates soccer/hockey moms just like George Bush hates black people. Got it--excellent observation. LMFAO...

Re: Lipstick on a pig?

Imagine the outcry if John McCain or Sarah Palin used the term 'call a spade a spade'.

Yep--some would freak out. Others who see it for what it is and not for a unlikely intentional racial knock on Obama (like you just intended it) would go on and realize it's not--you guessed it--an actual issue, that it's just fodder that's silly that will have no actual outcome on who wins the presidency and detracts from the real issues.

Re: Lipstick on a pig?

"The mystery of where the milk went to was soon cleared up. It was mixed every day into the pigs' mash. The early apples were now ripening, and the grass of the orchard was littered with windfalls. The animals had assumed as a matter of course that these would be shared out equally; one day, however, the order went forth that all the windfalls were to be collected and brought to the harness-room for the use of the pigs. At this some of the other animals murmered, but it was no use. All the pigs were in full agreement on this point, even Snowball and Napoleon. Squealer was sent to make the necessary explanations to the others.

'Comrades!' he cried. 'You do not imagine, I hope, that we pigs are doing this in a spirit of selfishness and privilege? Many of us actually dislike milk and apples. I dislike them myself. Our sole object in taking these things is to preserve our health. Milk and apples (this has been proved by Science, comrades) contain substances absolutely necessary to the well-being of a pig. We pigs are brainworkers. The whole management and organisation of this farm depend on us. Day and night we are watching over your welfare. It is for your sake that we drink the milk and eat those apples. Do you know what would happen if we pigs failed in our duty? Jones would come back! Yes, Jones would come back! Surely, comrades,' cried Squealer almost pleadingly, skipping from side to side and whisking his tail, 'surely there is no one among you who wants to see Jones come back?'

Now if there was one thing that the animals were completely certain of, it was that they did not want Jones back. When it was put to them in this light, they had no more to say. The importance of keeping the pigs in good health was all too obvious. So it was agreed without further argument that the milk and the windfall apples (and also the main crop of apples when they ripened) should be reserved for the pigs alone"

SOUND FAMILIAR??
...And if you ain't down with that, I got 2 words for ya....

Sometimes those pigs get pretty pissed off. I sure wouldn't want to be around one when that happens.
"Yes, there are two paths you can go by
But in the long run
There's still time to change the road you're on."
